Roman Yatsiv is a painter, graphic artist, historian and theorist of art, art manager, curator of art projects, teacher, editor, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs of the Lviv National Academy of Arts. He is a Professor, Doctor of Philosophy, Full Member of the Scientific Society named after T. Shevchenko, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine.

Roman Yatsiv is the author of more than 30 books on various aspects of fine arts, compiler of the Anthology of Ukrainian Theoretical Thought “Ideas, Meanings, Interpretation of Fine Arts” (in three volumes) and more than 1000 articles in collective monographs, albums, magazines, and online resources.
In his art works, the author strives for non-figurative subjects, though the themes are inspired by a wide range of emotional impressions. Roman Yatsiv’s conceptual painting balances between “magical realism,” lyrical abstraction and art informel when an artistic image is being constructed in the process of color organizing and associative plastic forms. It is from this immediacy of the painting act that certain reflections, which are the result of the artist’s imagination and existence, emerge.

Roman Yatsiv has been a participant of art exhibitions, including individual (easel works in oil, acrylic painting techniques, gouache, drawing markers and markers), art photography. His personal exhibitions took place in Lviv (1981, 1989, 1996, 1997, 2005, 2009, 2015), Rivne (2013, 2019), Drohobych (2015), Kramatorsk (2015), Druzhkivka, Kyiv, Odesa (2016), in Poland (Lodz) , 2015, 2019; Poznan, 2019), in Canada (Toronto, 2017). R. Yatsiv is a member of the Srebrny Kwadrat (Silver Square) International Jury in Przemysl (Poland), 2015, 2018, a curator of the exhibition of works by Lviv painters in China (Gangzhou, 2011). His works are kept in private collections in Ukraine, Germany, Canada, the USA.
